Omnilux LED mask: is it worth it?
Yes, for fine lines. The Omnilux Contour Face is a real FDA-cleared wrinkle mask: soft silicone, 10 minutes, 3 to 5 times a week, and one tester measured close to the light Omnilux claims. Buy it from Omnilux ($395) to keep the 2-year warranty. If you also want acne help, or want to save $55, the Shark CryoGlow ($339.99 on Amazon) is the better buy: FDA cleared it for wrinkles and acne.

Quick answers
- Is Omnilux FDA approved?
- It is FDA cleared, not approved: no LED mask is "approved." FDA's device listing names the Omnilux Contour and Omnilux Men under K191629, a clearance from September 12, 2019 filed under the name "faceLITE." It covers full-face wrinkles only. The Omnilux Clear has its own clearance for acne (K210948, June 24, 2021).
- Is the Omnilux mask worth it?
- Yes, for fine lines: it is FDA cleared for wrinkles, comfortable soft silicone, 10 minutes a session, and a tester measured about the light Omnilux claims. Buy it from Omnilux ($395) for the warranty. If you want acne help too, the Shark CryoGlow covers both for $55 less.
- Omnilux vs Shark CryoGlow: which is better?
- Both are FDA cleared for wrinkles. Pick the Shark if you also want acne help: it is cleared for both, has built-in eye shields and under-eye cooling, and costs $55 less. Pick the Omnilux for comfort: soft, light silicone instead of the Shark's hard shell, which some owners find heavy.
- Which Omnilux mask should I buy?
- For lines, the Contour Face ($395). The Omnilux Men ($395) is the same light and the same FDA clearance in a different shape. For acne, the Omnilux Clear ($395): Omnilux says the Contour "will not clear acne breakouts."
- Can I buy Omnilux on Amazon?
- Yes, but from a reseller, not Omnilux: the Contour Face was $442.99 and the Omnilux Men $435.95 from Posh Gifts Online (Oct 26, 2026). That is more than Omnilux's $395, and Omnilux's 2-year warranty covers only masks bought from Omnilux or "one of its authorized providers." Buy from Omnilux.
- Is there a cheaper Omnilux dupe?
- The RENPHO Rejuven ($169.99 on Amazon) is FDA cleared for wrinkles and acne, two uses to the Omnilux's one. 12 masks cleared for both cost less than the Omnilux Contour Face.
- Is Omnilux safe?
- FDA cleared it, and Omnilux says the Contour needs no eye protection. FDA's injury database has 5 reports about Omnilux home masks since 2022, all sent in by users. The Shark has 69, 68 of them filed by SharkNinja. Counts are not rates: makers must send FDA the complaints they get.
- Does the Omnilux mask work?
- It can, with steady use. Omnilux says to expect results "starting at 4 weeks," and of 377 owners we read online, about 130 said they saw a change in their skin. The faceLITE filing says clinical data "is not required," so FDA did not test results.
01 / Omnilux vs Shark CryoGlow
Omnilux or Shark CryoGlow?
The Shark, unless comfort matters most. It costs $55 less and is cleared for acne too. The Omnilux is soft and light; the Shark is a hard shell. The Shark's filing lists far more light, but no one has shown that more light works better.

- What Omnilux owners say (377 we read online): Fit was the top complaint: about 30 said it is too big, slips or presses on the nose. About 17 had the controller, battery or cord fail or flicker, some just after the 2-year warranty. About 12 were unhappy with support. About 22 saw little or no change. 3 said it burned their skin (one on the lip after 2 weeks, two after about 6 months); the cause was not confirmed. About 130 said they saw a change in their skin. One owner: "It's too big so if I want to line up my eyes with the eye openings then I end up with part of my bottom lip and chin out the mouth part."
- What Shark owners say (about 44): The hard shell: 8 owners said it is heavy or leaves pressure marks. 3 said the light is very bright, even with eyes closed. 3 saw little or no change after weeks of use. About 14 said they saw a change in their skin; about 7 liked the cooling eye pads. One owner: "I don’t love this mask bc I think it’s heavy and uncomfortable to wear, HOWEVER I can see a difference in my skin."
The Omnilux light reading is worked out from the dose one tester measured (16 J/cm² in 10 minutes). Full Shark record: Shark CryoGlow: is it worth it?

- Omnilux Clear: blue and red light (415 and 633 nm), 10 minutes, 4 times a week for 6 weeks. Omnilux says not to use it "for more than 6 weeks consecutively," and that people with darker skin "may experience transient pigmentation with blue light therapy" (dark patches that fade). It has built-in eye shields. Not for children under 14.
- Neck and chest: the only Omnilux filing we found with a study in people. One study of 25 women, skin types II to V; 16 of 19 who answered felt their wrinkles had improved; no adverse events.
- Age: Omnilux says the Contour devices are for adults 21 and older.
The Mini row's split by use is from the patch filing (red and blue for acne, red and near-infrared for wrinkles). FDA also lists an "Omnilux Contour Face 2" (August 2026), not on sale at Omnilux on October 21, 2026. Older clinic devices sold as Omnilux Blue and Omnilux Revive are not home masks.

Every mask and every K number: Which LED face masks are FDA cleared?
05 / Does it work? Is it safe?
What the filings, owners and FDA reports say
Maybe a little, with steady use. FDA did not test results, and the Contour Face's filing has no study in people.
- The FDA filing: the faceLITE filing says: "Since the faceLITE LED mask raises no new questions in terms of safety and efficacy, clinical data is not required." The Omnilux Clear filing says the same.
- Omnilux's own claim: "With consistent use, you should start to see results from your Contour device starting at 4 weeks." It prints no study size on the product page.
- Injury reports: FDA's database has 5 reports about Omnilux home masks, from January 31, 2022 to June 17, 2025, all sent in by users: darker skin patches (2, one also with blurred vision), a burn (1), more facial hair (1), and a migraine with changed vision (1). FDA data
- Dermatologists: the American Academy of Dermatology says red light devices "can produce subtle to noticeable results on the face" in "some studies." AAD
Darker skin: the American Academy of Dermatology says people with darker skin "are more sensitive to visible light, such as red light," which "can lead to hyperpigmentation." Two of the Omnilux injury reports describe darker patches. Talk with a dermatologist first, whichever mask you choose.
06 / How we checked
What we read, and what we did not do
On October 21, 2026 we read FDA's 510(k) filings and device listings for every Omnilux device, FDA's injury-report database, Omnilux's US store and warranty page, and Amazon's listings. We check Amazon prices every night. We did not test the masks ourselves; the light reading for the Omnilux is from Light Therapy Insiders. The Amazon links on this page may earn us a commission. Links to Omnilux do not. Neither changes the pick.
