CurrentBody LED mask: is it worth it?
Not for most people. The Series 3 ($569.99 at CurrentBody) is FDA cleared for wrinkles and acne, for skin types I to IV. The Series 2 ($469.99) is cleared for wrinkles only, and a tester measured 18.5 mW/cm² of light from it against the 30 in its filing. CurrentBody is not selling either mask on Amazon today. The Shark CryoGlow ($339.99 on Amazon) is cleared for the same two uses for $230 less. Buy the Series 3 if you want its six wavelengths and app presets, and your skin is type I to IV.

Quick answers
- Is the CurrentBody LED mask FDA approved?
- It is FDA cleared, not approved. The Series 2 was cleared on June 25, 2025 (K250966) for full-face wrinkles. The Series 3 was cleared on June 3, 2026 (K260715) for wrinkles, mild to moderate acne and, in its red mode, minor muscle and joint pain, for skin types I to IV. Neither filing included clinical testing.
- Is the CurrentBody mask worth it?
- The Series 3 is, if you want both acne and wrinkle modes and your skin is type I to IV. The Series 2 is harder to justify: it costs $469.99 and is cleared for wrinkles only, while the RENPHO Rejuven ($169.99) is cleared for wrinkles and acne.
- CurrentBody Series 2 vs Series 3: what is the difference?
- The Series 3 ($569.99) adds blue light for acne, yellow light for wrinkles, a green relaxing mode and an app, for $100 more. Its FDA filing lists 566 LEDs (CurrentBody advertises 750). Its clearance covers skin types I to IV only.
- Can I buy CurrentBody on Amazon?
- Not from CurrentBody today. The Series 2 listing has no offer, and we did not find the Series 3 on Amazon. Other sellers offer older stock, and CurrentBody says it "can't assist with faulty products which were purchased elsewhere." Buy from CurrentBody to keep its 2-year warranty.
- Is there a cheaper CurrentBody dupe?
- The Shark CryoGlow ($339.99) is FDA cleared for wrinkles and acne, like the Series 3, and is sold by Amazon. The RENPHO Rejuven ($169.99) is cleared for both too. 12 masks cleared for both cost less than the Series 2.
- How many FDA injury reports do CurrentBody and Shark have?
- FDA's injury database has 1 report about a CurrentBody mask and 69 about the Shark CryoGlow (68 of them filed by SharkNinja itself, 50 about the UK model). Counts are not rates: the Shark is the best-selling LED mask we found on Amazon, and makers must send FDA the injury complaints they get. Both masks list who should not use them.
- Does the CurrentBody mask work?
- Maybe a little. CurrentBody's studies of the Series 2 (35 and 31 people, 8 weeks) had no fake (placebo) mask to compare with, and the Eurofins report names CurrentBody as its sponsor. FDA did not test results.
01 / Series 2 or Series 3
Which CurrentBody mask should you buy?
The Series 3, if your skin is type I to IV. It is cleared for wrinkles like the Series 2, and also for acne, for $100 more. If your skin is darker, FDA's clearance for the Series 3 does not cover you; ask a dermatologist first.

04 / Does it work? Is it safe?
What the studies and FDA reports say
Maybe a little, with steady use. The studies are CurrentBody's own, and FDA has one injury report about a CurrentBody mask.
- CurrentBody's studies: 35 people for 56 days (SGS, 2024) and 31 women for 56 days (Eurofins, 2025), both on the Series 2. Each had one group and no fake (placebo) mask to compare with. The Eurofins report names CurrentBody as the sponsor and reports "a statistically significant decrease in the wrinkles and fine lines." CurrentBody's trial page
- The FDA filings: no clinical testing in either.
- Injury reports: FDA's database has 1 report naming CurrentBody, from July 21, 2023, about the Series 1: a rash, burns and blisters in a person also using tretinoin. The person wrote that this "was not clearly labeled in the warning section." FDA data
- Dermatologists: the American Academy of Dermatology says red light devices "can produce subtle to noticeable results on the face" in "some studies." AAD
Darker skin: the Series 3 clearance covers skin types I to IV only, and the American Academy of Dermatology says people with darker skin "are more sensitive to visible light, such as red light," which "can lead to hyperpigmentation." Talk with a dermatologist first, whichever mask you choose. Who should not use it, from CurrentBody: anyone pregnant or breastfeeding; with a light-sensitive condition or taking a light-sensitizing medicine; with lupus or an eye condition such as glaucoma; and not over moles, warts or skin lesions.
05 / How we checked
What we read, and what we did not do
On October 19, 2026 we read the FDA filings for the Series 2 and Series 3, FDA's injury-report database, CurrentBody's US store, returns page and trial page, and Amazon's listings. We check Amazon prices every night. We did not test the masks ourselves; the light reading for the Series 2 is from Light Therapy Insiders. The Amazon links on this page may earn us a commission. Links to CurrentBody do not. Neither changes the pick.
