What should my routine be?

A simple, honest starting point for each concern — not a 12-step regimen. The golden rules: cleanse, treat, moisturize, and (in the morning) protect; introduce one new active at a time; and give it 6–12 weeks. Tap any active for its sourced evidence.

Even tone is a consistency game: a gentle brightener twice a day, and SPF every day so new spots don't replace the ones you fade.

Morning

  1. 1 Gentle cleanser
  2. 2 Vitamin C antioxidant + tone
  3. 3 Moisturizer
  4. 4 Sunscreen non-negotiable for pigment

Evening

  1. 1 Cleanser
  2. 2 Tranexamic acid or alpha-arbutin gentle pigment work
  3. 3 Niacinamide optional, layers with anything
  4. 4 Moisturizer

Acne & breakouts

Treat the whole face, not just spots, and introduce one active at a time so you can tell what's working (and what's irritating).

Morning

  1. 1 Gentle cleanser
  2. 2 Niacinamide calms + regulates oil
  3. 3 Light moisturizer
  4. 4 Sunscreen

Evening

  1. 1 Cleanser (salicylic acid optional) unclogs pores
  2. 2 Benzoyl peroxide or a retinoid alternate nights — don't stack
  3. 3 Moisturizer actives dry you out; replace the moisture

A retinoid at night does most of the heavy lifting; an antioxidant by day protects what you build. Everything else is support.

A dehydrated, irritated barrier makes every other problem worse. Strip less, hydrate more, and seal it in.

Daytime is about protection: antioxidants neutralize free radicals, sunscreen blocks the damage. This is the routine that prevents the others.
