NuFACE: is it worth it?

Yes, if you will use it 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 2 months. Buy the MINI+ ($187.50 on Amazon, Oct 26, 2026). FDA cleared the MINI+ and TRINITY+ for "facial and neck stimulation," a cosmetic use, not for lifting or wrinkles, and neither clearance included clinical testing. To spend $68 less, the FOREO BEAR mini ($119.99) is FDA cleared with the same words.

Quick answers

Is NuFACE FDA approved?
It is FDA cleared, not approved. The MINI+ (K201680) and TRINITY+ (K201782) are cleared "for facial and neck stimulation" as "over-the-counter cosmetic use." The FDA records do not say lift, sculpt or tone. Only NuFACE's red-light Wrinkle Reducer attachment is cleared for wrinkles (K212947).
Is NuFACE worth it?
Yes, if you will keep up the routine: NuFACE's manual says 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 60 days, then 2 to 3 times a week, always with its gel. NuFACE's own study, on the original Trinity, reports changes after 60 days. If you are not sure you will keep it up, start with a cheaper device cleared for the same use.
NuFACE MINI+ or TRINITY+: which should I buy?
The MINI+ for most people. Both are cleared with the same words. The TRINITY+ ($395) costs $208 more and takes add-on heads ($160 each at NuFACE), including the only NuFACE part cleared for wrinkles.
Is there a cheaper NuFACE dupe?
Yes. The FOREO BEAR mini ($119.99, sold by FOREO) is FDA cleared "for facial and neck stimulation" and "over-the-counter cosmetic use," the same words as NuFACE's. The INIA FLARE ($99.99) is cheaper still; a factory's filing lists its model (INIA-BD001).
Is the medicube Booster Pro a NuFACE dupe?
Not by FDA's records. medicube's Booster Pro is only listed with FDA as a Class I massager, with no clearance. Our side-by-side: medicube vs NuFACE.
Does NuFACE work?
Maybe a little, with steady use. NuFACE's study, which it calls independent, followed 56 people for 60 days with no comparison group. We found no published, controlled trial of NuFACE.
Do I need the NuFACE gel?
Yes. The manual says: "Always apply a NuFACE Microcurrent Activator when using your device." NuFACE's Aqua Gel costs $35 for 1.69 oz, $55 for 3.3 oz, $80 for 10 oz at NuFACE and $35 for 1.69 oz on Amazon. NuFACE does not say how many sessions a bottle lasts.
Is NuFACE safe?
FDA's injury database has 25 reports that name NuFACE, 21 of them since 2020. 7 mention the thyroid or trouble swallowing and 6 mention heart rhythm. Those counts cannot show how common problems are. The manual says NuFACE may not be safe on the neck for people with thyroid disease, heart or blood pressure problems. Read who should not use it first.

01 / The FDA record

What FDA cleared, device by device

NuFACE's maker, Carol Cole Company, filed each clearance itself. Each device is cleared for skin stimulation as a cosmetic use. Words like "lift," "sculpt" and "tone" are NuFACE's marketing, not FDA's.

02 / MINI+ or TRINITY+

Should you buy the MINI+ or the TRINITY+?

The MINI+, unless you want the add-on heads. Both are cleared with the same words and use the same routine.

NuFACE gives a 2-year warranty and 60-day returns, but says its warranties "are only valid for items purchased through authorized sellers" with a receipt. Amazon's NuFACE listings are sold by Front Row Group; we could not confirm whether NuFACE lists it as authorized. NuFACE warranty and returns

03 / Cheaper devices

Cheaper microcurrent devices with an FDA clearance

Each one has an FDA record that names it or lists its model, for the same kind of use. FDA's records do not rank these devices by results. Prices on Amazon, October 26, 2026.

Why the BEAR mini and not the cheapest: FDA's record names the BEAR mini itself, with the same words as NuFACE's. The INIA FLARE's record is a factory filing for 14 models; it lists the FLARE's model number and covers face and body "skin stimulation." Same words, not proven same results: no one has tested these devices against NuFACE head to head. Not on this list: the medicube Booster Pro, which has no FDA clearance (medicube vs NuFACE).

Does NuFACE work?

Maybe a little, with steady use. The only results for NuFACE itself come from NuFACE.

05 / Injury reports

What the FDA injury reports say

FDA's injury database has 25 reports that name NuFACE, received from August 2011 to June 2026. 18 were sent in by users or others and 7 by NuFACE's maker. All 25 are marked as injuries.

From FDA's device-report data for "NuFACE," read October 19, 2026 (FDA updated it October 7, 2026). We counted reports by the words they use, and one report can fall in more than one group. The FDA data we read

06 / Who should skip it

Who should not use NuFACE

From NuFACE's own manual. Ask your doctor if any of these apply.

The manual says to stop and call a health provider for trouble breathing or swallowing, dizziness, constant headaches, skin burning, or flashing lights in your vision. NuFACE manual (PDF)

07 / How we checked

What we read, and what we did not do

On October 19, 2026 we read the FDA filings for the MINI+, TRINITY+, Wrinkle Reducer, FIX+ and FOREO BEAR, FDA's injury-report database, NuFACE's store, warranty page, study page and manual, and the Amazon listings. We check Amazon prices every night. We did not test the devices ourselves. The Amazon links on this page may earn us a commission. It does not change the pick.
